Heart-Shaped Pancakes
We love pancakes! For Valentine's day last year and this year, I cooked heart-shaped pancakes. The mixture I used came directly off allrecipes.com called "Good Old Fashioned Pancakes". Since we are using deciliters, I will post the recipe using this type of measurement instead.
Ingredients
All Purpose Flour, 3.5 deciliters
Baking Powder, 3 ½ teaspoons
Salt, 1 teaspoon
White Sugar, 1 tablespoon
Milk, 3 deciliters
Egg, 1 medium-sized
Butter (melted), 3 tablespoons
Directions
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Mix until smooth. One can opt to use a Kitchen Aid, set to lowest for at least 30 seconds or until mixture becomes well-blended together.
- On the picture above, I first heated a heart-shaped cast iron pan I purchased from coolstuff.se. In Swedish, it is called Hjärtformad Stekpanna, which can be bought directly online and sent to your doorstep in a matter of days.
- Over medium heat, I sprayed and covered the pan with a bit of butter and scooped a small amount of the pancake batter onto the frying pan.
- Wait until one side has turned brown.
- Turn the pan upside down onto another pan (as seen) on the upper part of the picture above, and the other side will be already fried as heart-shaped pancakes. Make sure that this other pan also has butter or oil on it, as you would fry a normal pancake.
- Serve warm with maple syrup and tea or coffee for better digestion.
Last year, this came as a surprise. It was a special Valentine's collection of Lindt of Switzerland and Marabou. It was also definitely a chocolate-filled and heart-shaped pancake day.
