Pepparkaksdagen (Day of The Gingerbread) - Baking the Cookies and House

Last Saturday (December 6th) was the second day of Advent. In Sweden, it is usually celebrated by lighting the second candle and baking gingerbread cookies and/or making the Gingerbread House.

Baking these Gingerbread cookies on the second weekend of December is also perfect in preparation for the annual "Day of The Gingerbread" (pepparkaksdagen) during the 9th of December. At home, we invited my sister-in-law (svägerska) to bake with us. For baking the cookies, we used a ready-made gingerbread cookie dough (pepparkaksdeg) produced by Skogaholm. Svägerskan made stars, hearts, and people-shaped cookies.

I did too, and tried to get just a little more creative with some frosting (Dr. Oetker's Kristyr) and M&M's. I tried shaping a paw print, that was missing a "toe", guess I counted wrong (haha), three hearts beside each other, a boulder with M&M's on it, a fossil with pink frosting, my own female "snowwoman", a regular round cookie with candies in the middle, a failed attempt at the letter "G", and some zoomed in shots of the gingerbread house.

We used Annas for the gingerbread house and some more M&M's. Yum. Hope you guys like what we made!
